Shared Services Offer High-Value and Low Cost

Question: Often you answer my call on the first ring – which I like, but not always – which I don’t like.  What can be done to answer every one of my calls on the first ring?

 Answer: The service that we provide to you is a “shared service.”  This means that the staff we hire to answer your calls, also assists other clients.  Sometimes one caller needs to wait while we handle another call. 

 The only way we could guarantee that all your calls are answered immediately is to hire one person to handle only your account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  When you consider that there are 168 hours in a week, the cost to do this would be a couple of thousand dollars a week and approach $10 thousand dollars a month!

 Even then, we could only guarantee answering one call at a time.  What if you received a second call when we were talking to the first one?  Business etiquette holds that calls should be answered by the fourth ring.  The “shared” service we provide offers an extremely cost-effective alternative to a dedicated staff, as it is nearly as responsive yet costs only a small fraction of the price!
